My husband and I both have lived in the Macon, Ga. area for more than fifty years. We have visited all the best Restaurants and maybe one or two we might not have returned to. Of course, we have our favorites but we enjoy trying out the new places when they arrive too.
Downtown Macon has been revitalized and is a hot spot for restaurants and entertainment at various times of the year. Some of those local restaurants are on this list but we also included local favorite restaurants from all over town.
Not Included are chain restaurants. This list of local favorite restaurants in Macon are locally owned and operated.
Macon Cherry Blossom Festival
The Macon Cherry Blossom Festival brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area in the early spring. If you plan to visit during the Cherry Blossom festival, you might want to choose your restaurants and if needed, make reservations which would be the case for fine dining particularly.
During the Cherry Blossom festival there will be a Food Truck event, many of those are local or from the middle Georgia area but not all.
Downtown Christmas Lights
The spectacular display of outdoor Christmas lights during the holidays draws a very large crowd downtown. I recommend you go a little early if you plan to make an evening of it so you can get a seat in one of the many downtown restaurants. We visited Kudzu restaurant while enjoying the lights a few years ago and had a blast. Famous Mikes is near Kudzu but they close early afternoon normally. Check to see if they may have extended hours during events.

Natalia's has offered fine dining in Middle Georgia for 34 years. Impeccable food and service. Casual elegant dress code. Reservations recommended. Curbside pick up available.
Christians Fine Cuisine
Christian's Fine Cuisine on Bass Road offers an outstanding dining experience in a comfortable and welcoming space. Excellent reviews.
Brasserie Circa
European neighborhood restaurant feel. A unique American brasserie, featuring classic and contemporary French and European cuisine!
Nu Way Weiners- 9 locations
Since 1916 when the first of 9 local Nu Way restaurants opened, those red weiners have been the most craved hot do in these parts. The original location downtown burned but not before it was visited by Oprah. Don't leave the area before getting yourself a Nu Way Hot dog or Mega burger.
The Rookery-Cherry St. Downtown
During an era that saw Jimmy Carter ascend to the White House and Macon’s own Capricorn Records release hit after hit making music history, the Rookery was just being born. Today the Rookery bustles on, serving Allman Burgers and Jimmy Carter shakes to Maconites and travelers from far and wide.

Famous Mike's of Macon
Good old fashioned home cooking. Located in downtown. Famous Mike's was formerly Biscuits, Burgers & More. You will get not only a good burger but the breakfast menu is good too. Great reviews. Check their site for hours.
Ocmulgee Brewpub
Ocmulgee Brewpub is a one of a kind establishment in downtown Macon, GA serving gourmet burgers, artisan salads and sandwiches, hand-cut fries, homemade sauces and craft beer brewed in house.
Kudzu Seafood Company – Seafood Restaurant in Downtown Macon, Georgia
Kudzu Seafood Company brings the best of Southern coastal seafood to the middle of Georgia. "We make all of our breading, season blends, and sauces in house. We even bring our Po’ Boy bread in from Gambino’s in Louisiana."
Fish n Pig Restaurant
Fish n Pig has been a local favorite for many years. They are located at Lake Tobesofkee with waterfront dining.
This place gets super busy on the weekends so it is important to note their Reservation policy from their website: "Reservations are accepted Tuesday through Thursday ONLY with a minimum of 8 people for reservations. No reservations on the weekend are accepted. In an effort to better serve you, we cannot sit a party over 10 on the weekends. " My advice is to go early, like right when they open.
Jim Shaw’s Seafood Restaurant & Grill
Jim Shaw's on Vineville Ave. has been a Macon favorite for many years with consistently great seafood at affordable prices. Excellent reviews.

Papouli's Mediterranean Cafe is a family owned and operated restaurant, proudly serving authentic homemade dishes from the Mediterranean for over 34 years.
It's our favorite place to grab a Gyro.
Fincher's Bar-B-Q
Fincher's has been a local favorite for BBQ since 1935. We love visiting the Houston Rd. location for the home type atmosphere and friendly service.
Ingleside Village Pizza
Best pizza in town! Voted Best of the Best. Curbside pickup and deliver via Macon2Go or UberEats. The atmosphere is eclectic. Personally I love the white pizza and highly recommend the sloppy bread sticks.
The Bears Den
True Southern style home cooked food. Meat and vegetables as well as scrumptious homemade desserts.
